CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER. The clutch slave cylinder is a hydraulic actuator of the clutch control system used in manual transmission vehicles. It converts hydraulic pressure from the clutch master cylinder into mechanical movement that operates the clutch release mechanism. When the driver presses the clutch pedal, hydraulic fluid flows through the line to the slave cylinder, moving the piston which pushes the clutch fork or directly actuates the release bearing. This action disengages the clutch and separates the engine from the transmission, allowing smooth gear shifting.
