A turbocharger is a forced-induction engine component designed to increase engine power by supplying additional compressed air into the intake system. It uses exhaust gas energy to spin a turbine connected to a compressor, improving combustion efficiency.

The turbocharger is installed in the exhaust and intake system and works together with the intercooler, intake manifold, boost control valve, lubrication circuit, and cooling system. Its condition directly affects engine power, fuel efficiency, acceleration performance, and emissions.

A faulty turbocharger may cause power loss, increased oil consumption, excessive exhaust smoke, unusual noises, oil leaks, boost pressure errors, or engine limp mode activation.
